Oli and I had been planning this shoot for over 6 months.
He wanted something different to what other photographers had produced for him in the past. Something that was going to ‘wow’ the visitor, give him presence and stand out from the Google crowd.
So we swapped ideas, came up with a plan. I viewed a few different locations and eventually found the perfect place in Shoreditch, London.
Oli gave me a brief that he would like to have flames coming out of his hands! So it got me thinking. The flame image (first shot) took some planning and lighting, 4 lights in total. Took around 20 mins and some burnt hands to nail this one. But I’m a big believer in getting it right in camera and was really pleased with how it turned out. It then took around 5 mins in Lightroom and a little amount of cloning dust spots away in Photoshop and we had the image.
It was also the first time I had used my 70cm Beauty Dish. The 3 portraits of Oli sat down used this setup. Used with the Elinchrom Quadra and a grid on the dish is gave a wonderful light.
We finished the session outside with some natural light portraits to offer something softer then the other images to got from the day.
